One of the most popular questions Jambites do ask is “Does JAMB Repeat Past Questions?” Except there is a newly introduced topic, JAMB is known to repeat past questions. Just the way WAEC is presumed to make use of Questions Data Bank, JAMB may also be using Questions Data Bank.
Questions Data Bank is a repository of past syllabus questions on all secondary subjects organized in a way that facilitates local or remote information retrieval and is able to perform different queries and processes. New questions are added occasionally.
JAMB UTME could repeat a question through:
- Word for word
- Paraphrasing
- Keyword
For example, using Keyword
The word “SUMPTUOUS” was repeated in 2001, 2005 and 2012 JAMB UTME
- In 2001, this question was asked: The village girl wore sumptuous clothes (2001) A faded-looking B. ideas C. expensive D. loose-fitting
- Then, in 2005, a similar keyword was used: Some people consider the leather upholstery and thick rugs a bit sumptuous. (2005) A. simple B. lavish C. expensive D. desirable
- In 2012, the same keyword: Isa and Illu ate sumptuous meals on their brother’s wedding day. (2012) A. foreign B. cheap C. insipid D. expensive
From the example above, you will notice different questions, the same keyword and the same answer.
My advice: If you want to successfully write and pass JAMB once, you should get JAMB UTME past questions on the subject you want to write… If you make use of the JAMB repeated past questions, you will definitely succeed in the examination.
