Knowledge

There is no such thing as a robotic course in Nigeria or a robotics engineering course in Nigeria because no university in Nigeria is fully equipped for such a course. The course that covers robotic education in Nigeria is called Mechatronics Engineering

There is a strong demand for robotic engineers who are capable of designing, implementing and operating these systems to meet an increasing need in an industry where the complexity of projects is done with limited resources.

This course thus provides the skills and knowledge in rapidly developing fields such as robotics and information technology and digital electronics.

Mechatronics Engineering is a multidisciplinary branch of engineering that integrates the knowledge engineering of both electrical and mechanical systems, and also includes a combination of robotics, electronics, computer, telecommunications, systems, control, and product engineering.

Graduates of Mechatronics Engineering can work in specialised fields such as;

  • Transportation and Vehicle Systems
  • Telecommunication and Data Communication Networks
  • Power Devices
  • Medical Mechatronics systems
  • Heavy Engineering and Manufacturing Systems
  • Energy Devices
  • Consumer Products
  • Computer Techniques in Medical, Bioimaging and Technology Systems
  • Computer-Aided Design
  • Computer-Aided and Integrated Manufacturing Devices and Systems
  • Biomedical Systems

The O level requirement WAEC for Mechatronics Engineering must include

  1. Mathematics
  2. Physics
  3. Chemistry
  4. English Language
  5. Further Mathematics
  6. Biology
  7. Geography/Economics
  8. A trade subject

JAMB UTME subject combinations (subjects to write in jamb) to study Mechatronics Engineering are:

  1. Chemistry
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
