Course description:

English as a language we would recognise today was first spoken in early medieval times and is now one of the most spoken on earth. You get to read novels and poems instead of textbooks and reports. If you’re someone who spends their summers with their nose in a book or writing short stories, you already know this is for you.

And of course, there is more to English than just reading your favourite books, and if you’ve never read anything more complex than Harry Potter then you may want to expand your mind. Analysing takes brainpower. English is more than crusty old volumes of Chaucer and Shakespeare. There will be an opportunity to study modern literature, theatre, film, or even do a bit of creative writing yourself. It’s a malleable degree.

Can a science or commercial student study English Language?

Yes! If you are a science or a commercial student, you can study English Language at the university provided you have the required subjects combination in your O level result. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects to fit your desired course during WAEC registration because some schools may go against it.

Also, during WAEC or NECO registration make sure you know which subjects are been registered for you because some secondary schools are ignorant about the importance of O level requirements for university courses. Another alternative way to register the required subject combinations for English Language is through GCE.
