Knowing JAMB subjects for Education and Islamic Studies is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Depending on your mode of entry, Education and Islamic Studies is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Education but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

(i) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts Diploma in Arabic/Islamic Studies from a recognized university.
(ii) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED), University of Abuja, Gwagwalada andBayero University, Kano (BUK) accept a pass at credit level in Diploma in Islamic Studies.
(iii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts (i) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Arabic/IRS and any other relevant subject. (ii) Its own Diploma in Islamic studies with a minimum of Merit Pass.
(iv) Gombe State University, Gombe accepts combined Diploma in Hausa, Arabic and Islamic Studies.
(v) EDZAR – requires three NCE/A’ level passes including Islamic Studies. Admission is by Direct Entry only. Also requires credit in English Language and four other subjects which should include Islamic Religious Knowledge and a pass in Mathematics. Accepts NCE in ISS combination with any other subject with a minimum of ‘C’ grade across including Education. Also accepts Diploma in Islamic Studies with a minimum of merit pass and it must be Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria’s Diploma must be Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria’s Diploma.
(vi) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accepts NCE with credit level in the subject of specialization and/or any other subject..
(vii) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) accepts Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE Merit in ISS and other Arts or Social Science subjects.
(viii) Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso – Candidates must obtain not less than eight (8) points in NCE.
(ix) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts; (a) NCE credit/merit in: Islamic Studies. (b) Very good passes in three JUPEB subject: IRS and any two of Government/History, Literature in English, French, Yoruba/Igbo and Economics. (c) Two ‘A’ Level passes in relevant teaching subject areas. (e) Candidate must satisfy O/Level requirement.
(x) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts: (a) candidates who do not offer Islamic Religious Studies at UTME but meet UTME entry requirements may be considered for admission into 100 level. (b) candidates with Senior Islamic Studies Certificates as entry qualification for Islamic Studies and related programmes.
What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and Islamic Studies
(i) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires at least a pass in Arabic Language. Accepts credit in Social Science/Art subjects.
(ii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye does not accept Social Science subjects.
(iii) University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires five credit in English, Mathematics, IRS and 2 of Literature in English, Yoruba, Igbo, History or Government, French, CRS, Economics and Arabic.
(iv) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires credit in Mathematics.
(v) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada requires Arabic & English Language.
(vi) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) requires five credits passes including English Language, Islamic Studies any other three relevant subjects with a pass in Mathematics.
(vii) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires Five ‘O’ level credits at one sittings or six ‘O’ level credits at two sittings to include English Language and other subjects in Arts/ Social Sciences.
(viii) Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso requires credit in Arabic.
