WAEC Subject Combination For Civil Engineering

In WAEC, NECO or GCE, you are expected to register a maximum of 9 subjects for a Civil Engineering degree. You can register for less than 9 subjects if you are resitting.

A civil engineer is responsible for planning and designing a project, constructing the project to the required scale, and maintenance of the project. A civil engineer requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and administrative skills.

What does a Civil Engineer do?

• Civil engineers are involved in the design and building of highways, bridges and tunnels, schools, hospitals, airports and other buildings, sewage systems and water treatment facilities.
• Most structures, large and small, require the help of a civil engineer whether in the designing, planning or managing of the project.

Cut-off Mark for Civil Engineering course

• Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), University of Agriculture, Makurdi and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) same as in Agricultural Engineering.
• University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) – Same as in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering.
• Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) requires five ‘O’ level credit in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other subject in not more than two sittings.
• Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu (ESUT) requires credit in English Language and all relevant subjects.
• University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires a credit in Further Mathematics.
• Federal University of Technology, Akure requires five SSCE credit or its equivalent at NOT more than two (2) sittings in five (5)  subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics English Language and any other science subject.
• River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) accepts further Mathematics in lieu of Mathematics and requires Agricultural Science or Biology as the fifth subject.
• Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State – Same as in Mechanical Engineering.
• Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) requires credit in Biology.
• University of Jos (UNIJOS) requires credit in Additional or Further Mathematics as the fifth subject
